Tannoura Troupe in Cairo

11th November 2012
In: News
If you plan to visit Cairo make sure to mark the performance of the Tannoura troupe in your calendar.
Tannoura is an Egyptian sufi dance accompanied by folk music and chantings praising Prophet Muhammad, his companions and family (May Allah be pleased with them all).
The music is vibrant - unlike the spiritual and soothing music of the Turkish Mevlevi sect - and the instruments are typical Egyptian. As for the chanting, a solo singer performs the entire evening from beginning of the show to the end.

The show is performed at Wekalet Al Ghoury on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday at 8:00 pm
Ticket prices: 2 EGP and 30 EGP for foreigners.
